There is a bug in VS2010 (not yet verified for VS2012) when trying to deploy a custom code generator via VSIX. During build, VS2010 will add an incorrect location path to the package. To fix this issue, an MSBuild task is used to fix the path during the build process. I added a new dependency for "MS Build Community Tasks", which supports the file search/replace functionality that I needed. I have included the urls for the download of this project in the "Main-VS2010" folder. Simply download and install the MSI to allow the project to build properly.

Assuming I have the files generated (I don't yet, probably because I have a VB project) - what next? How do I use the generated files to add sections to my app.config?

Project Description

A Visual Studio add-in that allows you to graphically design .NET Configuration Sections and automatically generates all the required code and a schema definition (XSD) for them.

For installation and usage instructions, see the documentation.

Visual Studio 2010 users may also find Configuration Section Designer at the Visual Studio Gallery, though it is recommeded that you get it from CodePlex since it is updated more often.

Installation Visual Studio 2010

First, download the latest 2.x VSIX version of the Configuration Section Designer if you haven't done so already.

Before proceeding with the installation, make sure you close any open Visual Studio instances.

To install this application, an Administrator account is not required. Just double click the ConfigurationSectionDesigner.DslPackage.vsix to start the installation.

I have VS 2010 Premium at work and was having trouble locating the "Configuration Section Project" template when creating a new project or adding one to an existing solution. Strangely, this template is visible only if the "General" node is clicked under the "Visual C#" parent (or Visual Basic)

Hi, Thanks for this nifty tool. I've created the diagram. But I am getting the below error. What have I done wrong or what have I missed?
